Extreme value theorem

In calculus, the extreme value theorem guarantees the existence of extrema for a continuous function restricted to a finite domain.

Statement

If $f$ is a continuous function over a closed interval $\text{intCC}ab$, then $f$ attains both an absolute minimum and an absolute maximum in $\text{intCC}ab$.[cite:@boelkins2025active]
