Subordinate clause
In grammar, a subordinate clause or a dependent clause is a type of clause that adds onto an independent clause in a sentence. Subordinate clauses generally do not make sense as freestanding sentences.
Content clauses, relative clauses, and adverbial clauses are types of subordinate clauses.
