• Notes joined with bar things on top mean to divide them i think lolll like if there's four beats to a measure then 4 quarter notes might be one measure, but three quarter notes and two joined quarter notes might be another.

Note value

The note value or relative duration of a note.

• In the 4⁄4 time signature, a whole note is four beats.
