Aspiration

In phonetics, aspiration is the release of a burst of air after a plosive.

More precisely, aspiration is a delay in the beginning of voicing after a plosive, producing a voiceless transition from consonant to vowel.[cite:@krussel/aspiration] Thus, aspiration is associated with positive voice-onset time.
