-네 (verb suffix)

Another versatile Korean verb suffix! In the polite style, -네 is an exclamatory suffix that indicates that you are impressed or surprised. -네 is also used to make remarks addressed to oneself.

-네 is very common in dramas and conversation.

Inflection

-네 falls towards the end of the verb. Before e.g. -요, but after -었.

• Here, -네 implies that the speaker is surprised by the recipient's Korean abilities. If the speaker already knew that person spoke Korean well, they should instead say "한국어를 잘 하셔요."

여기 있​네​요!

Oh, here it is!

벌써 11월이​네​요.

Wow, it's already November!

아무도 안 왔​네​요.

Oh, look. Nobody is here yet.
