Purposive suffix (Korean)

In Korean, the verb suffix -어서Vowel harmonies: -어서, -아서, -여서. is used to convey forward reason/cause, a manner in which something is done, or to establish the state or object of the following clause.[cite:@wiktionary:86585195]

• -어서

  • because, since

  • by [v.]ing, while [v.]ing

  • and then

-어서 is similar to -고, but with a stronger logical connection between the two clauses. -어서 is to the word 그래서 what -고 is to 그리고.

Some examples:

집에 가서 씻고 잤어요.

After I got home, I showered and slept.
