“And, then” in Korean

In Korean, the word 그리고 is used to link nouns and occasionally phrases:

사과 그리고 바나나.

Apples and bananas.

It may be more natural to use the particles -하고,The particle -하고 is an idiomatic use of the verb 하다 with the verb suffix -고. -(이)랑, or -와/-과. The former two are more colloquial while the latter is the most formal and used in written Korean.

사과하고 바나나.

Apples and bananas.

친구랑 가족.

Friends and family.

펜과 종이.

Pen and paper.

Each of these particles can also mean "with" in certain contexts:

오늘 윌로우랑 영화를 볼 거예요.

I'm going to see a movie with Willow today.

While these particular sentences are fairly unambigious, the adverb 같이 (meaning "together") can be used to clear things up.

오늘 윌로우랑 같이 영화를 볼 거예요.

I'm going to see a movie with Willow today.
